Summer Transfer Window 23/24

Then why sign the contract? Why not just make it a flat £45m for any club?
I didn't sign the contract :p And presumably because Wolves wouldn't agree to that.

My post was in response to the point @shipinabottle was making re Wolves investing in him and him wanting to leave after 12 months - that was, reportedly at least, something both parties were open to happening. Wolves unwillingness to allow that reported clause to apply to everybody and them rejecting City's bid is almost certainly a financial decision with them believing they can get more money out of City, rather than a moral stance against a player wanting to leave after 12 months.

Seems a bit risky that West Ham would take that kind of risk for such a small profit. It's a lot of downsides with a very tiny upside.
Who knows. Although never confirmed, the reports about the agreement being in place for him to join us lingered on most of last season until it became clear that we weren't interested in him anymore. Maybe the true fee was more or maybe it was the only way Wolves could get the signing over the line and their upside was what we're seeing now with Liverpool not taking the option up and City being after him.

It would be funny if Pep decides not to sign Nunes because he is being unprofessional, and doesn't want that kind of person in his team.

To be fair I think mahrez did the same to force through the transfer. And let's face it, he probably would have been given some sort of guarantees from city.

For 47m I'd drive him there myself. Terribly overrated and his attitude stinks

I don't mind Hojberg, at least he has PL experience and scores the odd goal. It will provide good cover for Casemiro.
I remember he played really well in the tournament where Eriksen collapsed, but he isn’t consistent for me.
Aren’t we looking for a player to play alongside Casemiro rather than as cover?

Indeed, it’s getting a bit silly
I suppose all managers are guilty of this and it's not exclusive to football. I'm behind the manager in deconstructing and reconstructing a team that plays as he want's them too but I'm not sold on Mount yet and Antony has plenty of development to. do. I don't know much about Amrabat, Gravenberch or Hojberg but we certainly need a body in midfield for when Casemiro is suspended. Reluctantly I agree that any of those would be an upgrade on McSauce.

Regarding Spurs, Saar and Bissouma looked a good combo. Much more dynamic so understandable that they are preferred in Angeball.
