Summer Transfer Window 23/24

So that’s Twitter and Sky out.

Where do you guys look for more reliable transfer speculation?
I generally don't believe anything without a fair amount of "support" behind it from multiple websites including BBC, Sky, or the Athletic on their news page rather than merely in a rumour page

Jornos with ties to clubs, so for Liverpool the go to is Paul Joyce, with Paul Gorst of the Liverpool echo for a general feel of who/what positions the club are targeting.

So Twitter is back on the menu then? :p
Who bloody knows these days. I’ve been around long enough to have seen every club linked with 100 players a season. It’s only guaranteed when it’s announced everything else is to generate clicks and traffic.

Twitter is fine, you just have to follow the right people. Actual journalists. It will vary for different clubs and different countries. For United for example David Ornstein/Simon Stone/James Ducker off the top of my head are pretty reliable. You won't get as much transfer gossip but it also won't be completely made up/spread by agents trying to shift their clients.

In the modern era there is way too much gossip (or rather gossip being jammed down our throats). 30 years ago it was actually interesting checking out teletext / papers / radio5 because it was in moderation rather than just 5+ players linked with every club. I think everyone who posts a "how club X could lineup next season!!" with a fictional XI should have to pay £1000 to charity unless all the players end up at the club.

You also rarely get any surprises these days. I remember listening to the radio after school one day when it was announced Andy Cole had joined MU from Newcastle. That was a real shock but nowadays you'd know a week in advance.

I don't know, Casemiro came out of nowhere last summer. Everyone on here thought it was a joke. Similarly when we signed Lukaku there was almost no news beforehand, everything pointed to us signing Morata.

Yeah it was much more exciting. Cantona was the one that really surprised me.

Calvin Ramsey gone on season long loan to Preston. Given the poor ratio of players who have gone on loan and then actually stayed at the club, it looks like Ramseys Liverpool career is likely to be a very fleeting one.

He’s 19 and just come off a long injury layoff. Probably wise to give him a year or two of solid football elsewhere. Don’t think it means it’s the end of his Liverpool career.
