Summer Transfer Window 23/24

what did i tell ya they dont want rice its all games

City will NOT match Arsenal's bid for Rice

Man City are pulling out of the race to sign Declan Rice from West Ham.
They will not be trying to match or surpass Arsenal's current bid.

TBF west ham said a year ago that rice wouldn't go for less than 100 mill so really all city have done is got Kroenke to pay the money that was needed to get him

if city wanted arsenal to overspend they should have come in with 110 mill or more

3 interesting points here…

Have City forced Arsenal to pay more? I suppose he was always going to cost around £100m.

Can Rice push on, I’m not convinced he’s actually that good, it’s certainly a big fee. We’ll see.

It’s also good to see someone going toe-to-toe with City financially - we don’t want a one team league where they act like Bayern do…

I think he's the type of player that walk into most teams and improve them.

they haven't forced Arsenal to pay more, west ham always said 100 million or no deal - hell they still havent accepted it as they want more cash upfront. Suppose arsenal can always make a higher bid in an attempt to spread the cost over longer terms.

a midfield of havertz/rice/odegaard im excited about

I dont wanna hear about havertz being rubbish last few years at chelsea he’s not a striker, arteta will play him where he should be

He is literally unproven at the top level and you are making wild claims as this? It is one thing playing for Westham but at the pointy end it is completely different.

I cannot see how Rice alone is going to really change Arsenal's season that much compared to what they already have in the middle of the park.

Still upset over Maguire being such a flop at United :D

Rice is a very good player and will only get better with superior players around him. I once thought of him only as a CDM but he's got much in his locker than that. Massive upgrade on Xhaka if he is to play a similar position.
I'd expect him to play in Partey's position and Havertz to move into Xhaka's. Rice is excellent as a single pivot and will offset the loss of Xhaka's defensive work

I think Rice can play either instead of Partey as a proper DM or alongside him in a more box to box role. He's a big upgrade on both players. I'd rather utilise Smith-Rowe instead of buying Havertz.
