Summer Transfer Window 23/24

No way they are paying Havertz that. Or Monday morning they can expect a call from Saka's agent.
It doesn't make any sense at all.

Even if we assume he's already commanding that sort of wage, there's hardly a queue of other clubs looking to pay him that - so seems completely implausible that Arsenal would need to offer him that.

Most logical thing I can think is that the figure is including some sort of payoff from Chelsea, assuming that he is already on big wages that they know no one else will match and they really are looking to find a way to get him off the books.

Otherwise it just seems really unlikely that sort of offer would need to be put on the table.

That still makes no sense. You just ask for a smaller transfer fee if the other team is going to match higher wages than they want to. That offsets them.

But don't Chelsea need money up front for FFP? So a large transfer fee with more income up front, while they "subsidise" his wages over a longer period, might be the outgoing equivalent of them making all these new signings over 8 year contracts?!

Just feels to me like the source for this reported new "wage" is more to do with Chelsea's accounting than being likely that Arsenal have actually offered that sort of contract for no real reason.

Him and Mac Allister have missed something stupid like a handful of games between them through injury over the past couple of seasons - bit of a departure from our usual midfield signing of guys that are injured for weeks if they sneeze funny :D

The Liverpool curse will soon be upon them. Their legs will have fallen off by the end of July.

They both play 1 game a week. Wait until they are playing a game every 48 hours under Klopps demands :P.
