Summer Transfer Window 23/24

Him and Mac Allister have missed something stupid like a handful of games between them through injury over the past couple of seasons - bit of a departure from our usual midfield signing of guys that are injured for weeks if they sneeze funny :D

Prediction: One of them will miss 3+ months to a major injury this season :D

Is he not an attacking player though? I thought you had loads of them already and needed some to sit in the middle of the park for you?

He's more of a Coutinho than our typical midfielders of recent years. He can play in the midfield 3 but will offer little out of possession.

Why do you think that? I've listened to a few bundesliga experts giving their opinion on the like of TAW the past few days and they all disagree with that statement.

I'm not a bundesliga expert so will defer to them for sure, but I've watched a few of his games live last year and that's what I remember. He'll give it his best of course but would have probably put his defensive effectiveness even below Elliot, probably lowest among our midfielders.

But of course, if Bundesliga experts disagree then I'm probably wrong about this as I'm only basing this on what I remember from a few of his games :D

I won't pretend to have seen much more than a few youtube vids of him but according to a statto I follow on twitter (a proper one not Bigpig), he's perfectly suited to playing as one of the two more advanced midfielders in 3-2-2-3 formation we were playing towards the end of last season. I mentioned previously that we're actually a lot more in need of players that can play in the more advanced midfield positions than we are the deeper roles, although I'm pretty sure we'll sign a more defensively minded midfielder too.

The fact that he can play wide on the right is very useful too. We've got loads of options for the central and left side of our attack but we've got absolutely nobody to cover Salah on the right so he'll come in handy there too no doubt.

Very happy with Timber and Declan.

The only question mark is £65 mill for Havertz.

Off the back of a poor season (Chelsea collectively) and that £65 mill could have been spent on someone else.

£65 mill can buy you a top player in the market.

It will be interesting to see who got the best value for money in the 60m purchase department, Arsenal for Havertz, Liverpool for Szoboszlai or Utd for Mount.

We're dropping £23m on Collins from Wolves.

It's a bit of a strange one - we've wanted him for a while and we don't tend to make many recruitment mistakes... but the Wolves fans seem genuinely excited to see the back of him! Going to be interesting to see which side has the right of it.

£45m spent on Schade and Collins! Hopefully someone will meet our asking price for Raya and allow us to bring in a couple more.

TBH I know nothing of him, any opinions?
Only what I've heard since we were linked - and of course Bigpig's lovely couple of weeks worth of reviews. If he turns out half as good as what folks are saying he should be pretty decent.

I just want the next signing to happen now, if there's any truth to the Thuram links we should start to hear stuff in the next few days as France are out of the u21 euros :D

What have I said that's wrong about him that's wrong?

Played mostly out wide cutting in? That's where hes most effective Left and right

Can cover most attacking positions? including central

Very Hard working?

He's not great as a 8 but serviceable.

and most importantly

He's a pile of ****

glad to be of help.

Also with regards to not having many injuries. Hes had groin problems missing 5-6 months in 20/21.
