Summer Transfer Window 23/24

Apologies for my poems :p anyway provided data on were he plays and that’s mostly outwide. Breakdown over two seasons. Don’t need to be an expert to read that and I have never claimed to be. Data and stats are very accessible to anyone.
No problem re the poems, I just find myself reading your posts like I am in GCSE English. As for the stats point, it's all good and well looking at raw numbers but what the real stattos are good at is looking at how specific stats are related to particular roles in a certain system. Josh Williams (@Distancecovered on twitter) looked specifically at what Liverpool want/need from an 8 in the system we were playing and believes that he's perfect for the role.

We were checking him out to play wide but with the ability to drop into the hole that’s left when the fullback and 8 advance.

Diaby would be number one preference but there’s no way we pay the 80-90m odd million that Leverkusen have asked for when we went for him in the past two windows.

Football is advancing that much these days that that’s it’s hard to pigeon hole players with positions and numbers.

The Dutch had it sorted decades ago with total football!!!

I don't think there's that much wrong with the signings Spurs have made. But they still need to strengthen their defence if they're going to improve much on last year.

I can imagine Newcastle playing total football

It will be interesting to see who got the best value for money in the 60m purchase department, Arsenal for Havertz, Liverpool for Szoboszlai or Utd for Mount.

Yup.

Havertz has experience of the league but has had a pretty poor season.

However he is only 24 and a German international so hopefully Arteta can do something with him.

Neutral fans say he's good. Chelsea fans say he's rubbish.

Getting a little bit worried now over the lack of news regarding Declan Rice.

There was a tweet earlier about how West Ham are not budging wanting the money paid over 18 months, yet Arsenal want to pay it over 4 years.

Hopefully this all gets sorted out this week!

Not for all clubs they don't. Some run to 31st of May, including Arsenal’s so June or July makes no difference to them in terms of which years accounts the transfer falls into.

July 1st has special meaning because it's typically when contracts expire and hence when you can sign people on Bosman deals etc. But in terms of actual finance as Baz says companies can define when their financial year end is. I imagine end of May makes sense because June is probably a loss-making month (less revenue from gate receipts and prizes, meanwhile you are still paying all the wages even for players that will leave in July), and hence you want to defer that to next year's accounts.
