Do you still do a roast with all the trimmings?

I’m from the rural South West and Sunday’s can be pretty much summed up by a post I saw elsewhere, earlier:

“Dad's at the pub enjoying a pre-lunch pint. Mum's got everything under control. Gran will soon turn up. The kids are playing in the park….”

Pretty much how it still is around these parts minus the need for children to play in a park.

I get the feeling this scene isn’t played out in the rest of the country so how’s Sunday for you?

As it happens, I just did one for my OH and his family. Chicken, homemade bread sauce, stuffing- the works and they still proceeded to eat it with rice

Quiet day for me, rarely do the Sunday dinner thing anymore unless visiting family, and even then I end up feeling uncomfortably bloated by the time I'm done. Started the day with a protein shake and banana, rice and chicken/veg for lunch. Sea bass and more veg for dinner, I'll finish off the day with another shake in an hour or two before settling down.

Not much of a pub-goer anymore either, so that's out.

Had a couple of extra hours in bed this morning, hit the gym early afternoon, and now I'm lazing around with a movie while perusing the net.

I used to try and do a Sunday dinner tradition but just don't have the time to spend half the afternoon cooking. My daughter is in a ski race team so Sundays are either training or racing November to April and in the summer i far rather BBQ or use the pizza oven.

That sounds like the way it was in my youth but apart from being vegan i walk on a Sunday so tend to eat out of my rucksack ,Boscastle area today, don't do heavy daytime eating tbh

only if I go to the pub.... there's a place that does a mean carvery for £15.29
there's also a place that sells a whole roast chicken, joint of gamon or ham, two potions of roast spuds, stuffing and gravy for £9.99 if I fancy eating at home.
If I'm cooking myself I normally just get a chicken butterflied in a tray to place in the oven.

today I went back to see my old man and I ate this at the local steak house

Have a roast every now and then but it doesn't have to be a Sunday.

Yorkshire puds are for any day of the week.

Doing the South West Coast Path?
yep or sometimes i go straight on to the moors from the house and on to Rough Tor ,this Weekend surfing and walking Polzeath Saturday ,Tintagel, Boscastle Sunday ,as regards food i should really start buying out more in pubs ect more foe the social aspect as I've dumped quite a few one sided (people who want but don't give) toxic friendships as I've got older ,Moon man drifts on to another topic

Ain't nobody got time for that!

We do a roast occasionally, depends what shifts the other half is on though, if I'm having to keep the kids quiet & entertained at the same time then it becomes a bit of a mission, also she's much better at doing the potatoes than me, so we tend to only really do it when she's off at the weekend, and make it a team effort :)

I live alone, so making a roast seems too much, I do occasionally do a pork chop or a chicken with some "roast potatoes" and veg, but its rare.

Always. If I don't make it we do go out, but this has gotten expensive so now its roast beef, boiled potatoes, mashed potatoes, cauli or cabbage, parsnip and carrots with roasties and stuffing or if Im feeling lazy, croquettes with gravy you can cut with a knife. I make a single huge yorkshire pudding, so if there is any left, we can have it with ice cream later in the day.
