Hi,

I have an 05 BMW 650i, the problem i am having is that something related to the sunroof is making a really annoying sound which is hard to describe. Its like a spongy squeak, exacerbated on anything but an ultra smooth and level road.

The sound is somewhat masked if the sunroof cover is closed, but this means i cant really use it at all (open cover, closed sunroof) because the sound is too much. When the sunroof is physically open the sound is gone but i dont think thats an adequate solution, in this weather i want a glass top but not an open sunroof.

Having spoken to BMW they tell me that it is classed as trim and is not covered under my warranty, is this acceptable or should i be doing something else to get it fixed?

Thanks

Porsche used this sticky backed felt stuff to cure my 997 sunroof creak, they told me that wasnt warranty either i just went down there and drove them mad till they fixed mine, shame you have to resort to that but still.

Sounds like a common BM problem - I read that some people have cured it by using some kind of lube on the rubber seals.

I dont' know if this is the same as the silicon spray/lube that BMW garages offer. Either way any lube specifically for rubber should help.
