Last nights sunset on the west coast of Scotland...

That really nice. Great contrast, great colours. My only suggestion to improve it is that the sun is too central. I would have tried panning the shots a bit more to the left. That shot is also wetting my appetite as im off to western Scotland in a couple of weeks.

Beautiful!! I miss the west coast of scotland! Didn;t get any sunsets like this when I was there unfortunately

I actually don't mind the central sun too much, although I'd like to see what it looked like off center too

I was a bit restricted in my position for this shot. This was really the only location with small stones and boulders. The suns sets further to the left at the height of summer.

I actually think you've got the shot perfect with the sun in the centre. The whole image draws the eye in one nice flow

Nice picture mate!

Is that Arran? where was it taken from? I was soo close to going down the beach to get a shot of Arran with the sunset behind it, always looks awesome. Here is one i took a few months ago (before i worked out how to do long exposures etc mind you so it could have been better! )

Yes, it is Arran. It was taken from Portencross, just by the castle. Your shot looks more like Ardrossan North shore if I am not mistaken

Im staying in an apartment in Arisaig, just down from Mallaig. Can't wait for it. Hope the weather is good.

You do realise that mallaig and ardnamurchan are one of the wettest areas in Britian :eek:

You can hope though. It is an area I have never been. We had planned a 2 day camping trip up that way this summer but couldn't get 2 good days weather wise.

There are plenty of good locations on the way to Mallaig as well, which are well worth viewing.

It was taken in Troon

I usually crop the foreground out of my picture, makes it look half decent!

The picture you posted is way better than mine though

No, just a blend of 2 images. One exposed for the sky and one for the foreground.

Maybe not as intense a colour but nearly there

I used a 3 stop ND, a 3 stop soft ND grad and a CP filter
