Hi,

I have a problem in another house.
ISP is Supanet and an old computer was XP
Now after an upgrade the comp is vista and the modem suplied by supanet doesnt have vista drivers (as it is a usb conection).

after ringing them up they sed ad need to by a new modem (cheek) or buy out.

after looking around will this Modem do the trick?

Just removed the link - that would be a competitor.
Any router that uses ethernet would need drivers only for the network card you connected to it.

ok sorry am not sure how i was ment to show u what modem tho.

and u didnt quiet answer my Q.
just that a network card needs a driver - Oviously.

I think you'll find tolien meant that even if your USB modem isn't supported, you can purchase a decent router (which you should anyway, USB sucks as a network connection device). A router will work on ANY operating system as it only relies on that OS having TCP/IP (the ability to use the internet) and therefore the only driver you need to worry about is the one for your network card.

Routers are stand-alone devices with integrated ADSL modems (if you buy one like that, which you should). They run Linux as their OS normally, and will boot up and connect to the internet on their own. They then "share" the connection with the machines hooked up to them from your LAN. No USB modem bull and no lack of driver support on Vista.

Quoting the model number would've been a start.

Er, I didn't?

If that's too opaque for you, you don't need drivers for the router.

easier to click a link =)

a simple 'yes' would have answered the Question (as most people know ethernet is better and doesnt require drivers *only the card or mobo* and yes usb sucks i know - hence me saying "oviously" earlier.

so after going around the houses
thanx yeah .... pffft.
