Supcom FA, where are my mass fabricators?

As per title, am I blind or something? I can't find any lvl 1 mass fabricators, where are they ? Have they removed them, if so, why on earth ?

40 you mean, they used to be anyhow, why on earth tech 2 now, I used to make hundreds of em my main mass income was from fabricators as extractor make way too little, I used to make huge rows of 50 fabs surrounded by power gens.

Thats why. They have moved the emphasis to moving forward and defending mex sites. If you surround a level 3 with mass storage, you get +27 mass. Adjacency bonus.

For instance if you turtle on ISIS you loose (yeah I said ISIS!)

The one critism of SupCom and more so of FA, is that it is very stressful to play and win. SupCom is not the sort of game where you can sit back in and 'Sim' up.
It is a case of you battle with your all or you loose!

I have gotta say the improvements they made with FA just made SupCom 100% better!

lol been playing some skrims with the new ai, my team mates got screwed so now im cornered in the bottom left of seton vs 3 adaptive ai's >.<

hiding behind tech 3 point defenses and fending off nukes till i can finish a load of bombers for an assassination run on one of themto break out :(

I personally used to try geting a tech ahead of the competetiton so even tho i had less units i made up in stronger units with stronger weapons and used formations most of the time.
 
Meh, I think I'm going to play @ -5 speed now, I could hardly manage as it was in original supcom.




Yes Skeet I love massive battles with 500 + units, so what :p.

tech 3 rushing on FA works great can get a hand full of the seige assault bots up in <15-20 mins and you've pretty much won.

personally i love building up huge crbran assault bot armies and some spiderbots + megaliths (i make t3 fab farms :o) and doing amphibious assaults :D
 
Tbh I like tech 2 most, don't like t2 stuff is just too powerfull imo.
Ahwell I'll properly get into it after picking up a replacement card for a dud 8800GT, atm with my 6800GS supcom isn't that enjoyable as @ medium-low settings it's 15-25 fps all the time. Can't wait to rock the game on high :D.
 
I still say you wont gain that many fps. Even the most powerful gfx card wont help as supcom is mainly cpu orientated, so is laggy fps cos of the cpu. Heck i think even them quad conroes have a hard time of it with massive battles. Sup com is one of them games that is too early released cos of the hardware currently out there.
 
my quad handles it nicely, although 3v3 does murder it on occasion specially when commander blows and takes out ridiculous amounts of stuff.

Skeet, when I've had the dud 8800GT I've had 120 fps on the same settings I now get 25 fps, it is cpu orientated yes, however with a 6800GS, it's MUCH more gpu limited. You keep implying a 3 ghz c2d can't handle supcom 2vs2 battles, a 3ghz core 2 duo is quite a lot faster however than your 2.8 ghz AMD x2. It won't drop to 10 fps and stay like that always unlike with your specs... You can't say a better gfx card won't help, because your 1950pro is enough for supcom, a 6800GS however, by far isn't. You say your fps drop to 10 in the late game, well, I don't have that problem, my problem is the fps are poor from start and stay like that.

Anyhow back to ontopic, I don't like FA as much as the original SC, everything seems to take much longer, and even an easy ai can give you a hard time ( I got beaten twice before I finally managed to adjust to the rushing easy AI.). And I managed to finish the game just just 1 minute after I got my first tech 3 engineer, wich is, well err odd, as I could wipe the AI base with just a few tech 2 and mostly tech 1 untis, he didn't build defences at all :confused:. He did have 10 t2 engineers rushing to upgrade and build mass extractors and mass storage.

Look on the GPGnet forums, there's a program that makes dual core processors much more efficient at processing the threads in the game. Massively improves the fps on my E6300.

I prefer FA to the original actually. More fast paced and the UI is SO much better now.
 
Lol the UI is something I'm annoyed over too as I have to scroll a lot for the building construction list, getting used to FA now, cant believe you say it's fast paced though it takes longer to do everything as you can't build up your resource income as fast anymore.

Will take a look on the GPGnet forums.
 
Picked up Sup Com and the expansion the other day and i've just noticed that the original Supreme Commander according to add/remove takes up 18GB :eek: that can't be right can it ?

Having fun so far though :D seems its changed quite a bit from when i played in the beta etc.

Tier 3 rushing does work, but only if you have someone to back you up whilst you are building.

I can have a constant stream of T1 units hitting your base in 2 mins and no amount of defence will stop you loosing at that point.

Okay on the bigger maps it is harder to attack early, but if you just tech up you will loose outlying mass extractors (ME's) to T1 swarms which will see your tech up slow to a crawl.
I find it better to do get some T1 out early for harrassment and control of outlying ME's with my third factory going to T2 as soon as it is built. Follow this with some air drops over my enemy base or some firebases in close proximity to outlying mexes and you have your enemy on the defence before he can roll out anything dangerous at T3.

SupCom is the same, but less obvious.
The key to winning at SC and FA is constant harrassment of the enemy and a gradual grind down of their resources whilst you slowly take control of the map.

Trying to Tech up and rush T3 will see you loose. T3 units will LOOSE to their mass in T1 units.

T3 is for base defence, experiments and T2 units.

Mixed T1 and T2 is where it is at. Watch some replays on GPG and you will see .
