Super Lag in Prey

Hi, I just fired up PREY, and I find that I get really bad fps in the menu, 30fps and below, then I go into options and the fps drops all the way down to 5fps, and in game the FPS aint very good and also drop down to 14 and below, I dont even have AA/AF forced, is this a known problem with the 8800 series graphics card? :s

Not sure, maybe a driver issue. Have you tried other drivers?

Try turning bumpmap sharpening and advanced specular off. Maybe shadows as well.

Just played thru Prey last week and remarked how utterly smooth it all was compared to stuff like STALKER. I also have a GTS but just the 320mb version. I had everything maxed at 1680x1050 though and no issues whatsoever.

Vista 64 here though with 2GB Ram and 3.2Ghz C2d.

Ok, Well I am getting bad FPS in Doom 3, PREY and Quake 4, menus seem to be choppy in all of them getting down to 14fps, performance in Doom 3 is very bad, 14fps average, the graphics settings are around the same as when I had my X800XTPE and then I was getting around 60fps.... I have even re installed Windows and still not working

well something to do with that game engine and gfx drivers not agreeing would be my guess then, dunno a solution though short of faffing about with the hundreds of nvidia drivers

Ok, I dunno if I solved it, buy I went into the Nvidia Control Panel, and were it said Multi Display Performance Mode, I changed it to single Display Performance mode, now my fps is 60

Guess you already know this but it's not the CPU I ran Prey/Doom 3 on max settings easily with my old rig ([email protected] Ghz)

yep doom 3 runs brilliant on my xp-m [email protected] with 7600gs. but as you found out it was a driver setting.

Well its all working, allthough @ 1440x900, Ultra Quality, 16xAA/AF I get around 30fps in doom 3 sometimes, seems abit low but proberbly then is my CPU holding back my GPU.

Is there any HD Texture mods or any mods to make Pray, Quake 4 and Doom 3 look allot better and maybe have HDR?
