Super-long life Laptop for cheap?

Hi all. I currently have a Dell Inspiron 1300 - its relatively powerful, and does all I need it to do, so long as it only requires 1 hour and 40 minutes to do! This was fine last year, when my longest lecture was 1 hour and 40 minutes, but this year one of our lectures is 6 hours long...

Do any of you know any laptops with a battery life between 6 and 8 hours? Preferably quite cheap; I don't care about processing power so long as it can run Word and access the internet. Thank you for any advice!

Get a netbook - Asus EEEPC, Acer Aspire One etc.

Most em do 6+ hours, and are very small and light, perfect for lectures.
 
I admit it looks really good! However I was hoping for something a little more basic, and a little cheaper. Something around the £150 mark would be good, even if it has awful resolution and about 1.0GHz processing speed.

Supermarket has the Acer Aspire One for £150, i've wacked Windows 7 on it :)

 
I don't think any full size laptops will last that long on a single charge. You could always purchase a second battery and tweak the power saving settings.
 
I think you can get full size laptops with two battery slots which enable you to swap out a drained battery for a charged one while running off the other spare. Would mean having several batteries that need charging at the end of the day tho. Probably not the cheapest solution either.
 
id go for the second batter option tbh, although i guess that wouldnt work with your current laptop anyway. an aspire one with a second battery would do it im sure!

Samsung NC10 or see what dell can offer in terms of larger / second battery.
