Its for my htpc not my main rig.

Its running an am1 5150, 1hdd and 2 sticks of ram. Power usage is around 50w.

At the moment its running some random peice of rubbish i found in the loft think it was free with a case. Changed the fan in it for a corsair af120 controlled by the mobo but its still really loud.

Anyone know and really quiet psu thats are not stupidly expensive. Entire system has only cost £90 so far so want to keep it really cheap.

Superflower are awesome!

Yeh i ised to have a superflower golden 550w u til i needed more for the crossfire.

Liking thats and teh seasonic atm. Its the non branded peice of xxxx i have in stm im worrid about but 10% of its rated load should be ok for a bit its not on 24/7 at the moment

Its got my corsair af 120 in it.u reckon it would get hot without a fan in it at all?

Who knows, if its in a case with case fans and its powering not a lot, you just never know it might survive.

Can you risk it with the components that are attached to it? if it was all old crap then I would do it for a laugh, but you only recently bought those parts.

Lol its in a corsair advanced 120 have pau intake about 2cm above the psu and exhaust out the back. I could plug the 80mm side intake fan in instead. Cpu dnt exactly make much heat.

Will probs just get a decent psu lol. Wanst exactly an expensive build £23 mobo and £25 cpu £13 ram

If it overheats (small heatsinks inside the PSU that rely on airflow and it then goes out of spec because of this, its likely to take everything with it, especially if its the nastiest piece of crap ever sold that doesn't have any modern safety features.

It has some features
It has a steel fan guard so u dnt put ur fingers into it lol.

On my HTPC i'm using a Seasonic G550, peak total wattage of my HTPC is about 150w, I picked the PSU up cheap from OCUK at under £70 last year.

My Seasonic G550 fan is dead silent, the whole HTPC is dead silent in fact. I would not be surprised if the PSU fan is not spinning yet according to Seasonic website it always runs around 20%.

I know the G550 is totally overkill in terms of wattage, plus double the price of other PSU's mentioned, however in the pursuit of something that really is true dead silent you sometimes have to go overboard on the PSU.
