Hi guys. This is not so much a log but rather an already finished project, albeit very recently completed. I present, the Super NinRevo:

It's an Acer Aspire Revo 3610 married with a Super Nintendo (SNES). The 3610 was one of the original Revos so the spec isn't great, however the motherboard is the perfect size and it comes with wifi, hdmi and a chip that'll run Windows.

Modifications to the SNES chassis include making the hole at the back wider so I could access all the ports. The front USB ports feed off the mobo itself. I switched the red power LED for bright blue one. Lastly, there are some breather holes on the side as the older Revos tended to get quite hot if not properly ventilated.

Hope you like it.

Extremely tidy work!

I tried to fire up my SNES the other year but all the games had multicoloured lines straked over the whole picture, guessing the caps in there have reached the end of their useful life :'(

Thanks for all the positive comments, makes it feel worth the effort. It was actually a non working SNES I bought off eBay - liquid damage, so no consoles were harmed during the making of this project.

I think the total build time was about 3 months, mainly because I'm quite lazy but also because I changed my mind every week about how I was going to do something. I'd certainly do things differently if I made another one. I was never a Sega fan but I am tempted to do a Mega Drive or Master System.

that's awesome! I'll need to call my mum and see if she's still got my N64 so I can do something similar.

Nice, I'd love to do one of these with an Intel nuc or something that can run some games :P

Would also be cool if you put the cartridge of your favourite game in the top too :D

I made sure one of the first things I installed was the SNES emulator. I've got a couple of reproduction controllers with USB connectors so it's not far off playing the real thing.

One of my plans was to have the USB ports on a cartridge actually.
