Super slow messenger transfers

I'm getting slow messenger transfers when transferring files across and most are only 700kb, i know messenger has always been slow on my old Windows PC's but this is carp.

I'm using 10.5

You'd need to forward the ports to make them quick. Simply:

If ports are forwarded either manually or through UPnP (which the Mac client doesn't support...) then you'll make a peer to peer connection and thus the transfer limit is based on your connection.

If ports aren't forwarded then the transfer is bounced through MSN's servers in which they limit you to about 3KB/s.

Skype (uses UPnP so transfers fly for me), Dropbox and iDisk are all much better options

This is a weird problem on the Mac, most people get it when using Mac Messenger.

On every operating system with every IM client I have ever used, transfers over msn have always been really slow.

At home my ports are forwarded but its still the luck of the draw if you get a decent transfer rate!!
