I've built a new system today, new Win 10 install.

I was installing software and setting things up when the system pretty much stopped to respond.

I realised Windows update was waiting to restart, so let it carry on. I also let if fully update, and no more updates are found.

The system is still super slow. Windows Explorer doesn't load up, I just get the green bar at the top. Windows settings, and add/remove programs barely works.

Hardware monitor isn't showing anything amiss. I'm pretty sure it's software issue.

Can anyone advice where to start?

What specs? Was it the latest Windows installer from MS site?
A reinstall takes such a small amount of time that I'd probably start from there.

This is what I've done now. Not sure what happened, but I'll keep checking it after every installation of software

Bring up the Task Manager and look at the disk usage. I quite often find that after a new install or major windows 10 version update, especially if you are using a HDD rather than SSD, that the Search Indexer goes crazy for a few hours and sets the Disk Usage to 100%. This means any other task is just really slow. If you just leave the PC on and let Search Indexer do its thing, it sorts itself out eventually.
