Supercarfest Runway 2023

Last runway event I did was at Bruntingthorpe when they ran the old Asda charity events around 2018. Very hard on the brakes and worse the paintwork as they never swept the place and it was stone chip alley. I did over 30 runs, each time stopping from 160mph to 170mph so very hard on brakes. Did a set of carbon pads (thankfully though not discs) and really cost me couple of grand which I should have just put to charity.

Put smiles on a few faces and enjoyed the runs but not for me.

I topped 190mph on the autobahn last week, much scarier too with Franz in his 1.3 Astra. :D

Supercar Fest runway is active, so like glass, no debris on it but it is also much much shorter, probably half the distance in fairness, it is all about getting a good run at the corner. :D

Same here in 2016 and found the same issues with stone chips. I was lucky with my brakes (did just under 50 runs) as I'd just fitted AP Racing etc but eventually I stopped on the day as it was taking an obvious mechanical toll on the car and I still had to drive home afterwards.

I may have been "slightly" interested in running in this runway event but only for the passenger reactions (which are always the best part of owning a silly car for me by now) rather than for myself as a "how fast can I go within the distance" test which has zero interest for me.

Arrived at the hotel for the night, got a prime parking spot. :D

I’m in paddock 3 supercar show I think but if it’s anything like previous years it tends to be disorganised chaos.

Yeah I remember turning up last year and it was madness with lambos everywhere trying to park and then everyone having to move so Ciro could park is Aventador at the entrance lol

RIP Viola Ophelia

Its a little bit "chaos" again it seems, clubs split up and parking inside seems pretty random but some stunning cars, I spent 15mins just admiring the Koenigsegg stand.

Pedestrian queue was still huge when I left at 1pm, think there were only 2-3 people able to scan tickets which was causing a huge backup. *EDIT* measured the queue using Google Maps - over 500m long - holy poop!

Met kindai in the passenger ride queue, saw gibbo's car (amazing colour in the flesh) and apart from the early disappearance I had I lovely day.

*EDIT* - Hopefully people will be along with way better photos than my quick phone pics but here's a very small selection of the randomness rather than an infinite number of Red Ferrari, Crazy Lambo, Cool Aston pics.

There must have been over 1000 exhibiting cars there easily, and, due to my advancing age I guess, whilst I loved the day out looking back at my pics it really was all "red Ferrari, red Ferrari, red Ferrari, red Ferrari, crazy Lambo, red Ferrari, crazy Lambo, crazy Lambo, cool Aston, red Ferrari, red Ferrari, crazy Lambo, crazy Lambo, red Ferrari, cool Aston" etc and skimming back through those pics I realised that only a few of the genuinely "rare" cars there really piqued my interest like the Jag C Type and D Type, the Koenigsegg Regeras, AM Vulcan etc. Even something you imagine would be rare like a Veyron/Chiron had about a dozen across various displays or how about a GT40, yeap a dozen on various displays etc. I think I'm just a grumpy old man nowadays :D

Good to have a quick catch up! Got back not long ago, am absolutely smashed, the early start of the day (for me) plus the driving and the heat. Was a great day, though as expected the place was absolute chaos.

Managed to raise £700 from the rides I did for charity.

Just back from the 2nd day of the show. Some stunning cars on display & plenty of action to watch.

Queue to get in was around 1 mile, but once parked up the pedestrian access was fine as we'd pre booked tickets so walked straight in.

On the whole I thought it was pretty well organised & run but as I wasn't running on the strip of I've only a spectators view of it.

I'll upload some photos once I've sorted through them, took around 350 :D

Was there today, great day! I think I saw you @DRZ wasn't quick enough for a photo though.
Saw DMO send his SVJ done the runway, sounds bonkers!

That 360 sounds so good, very angry but it can’t come close to competing with any McLaren in performance.

I did a best of 156-158mph last year in 458, owner of Lime Green 600 LT Spider was seeing 167-169mph consistently so mighty quick but from just driving my 600 it is so fast.

Yeah, they are 200bhp down on me so despite them getting the bend dead right and me taking it far too tight again (~55mph ish there I think), I was going an awful lot faster than them. I braked at the 100m board as I wasn't sure I wanted to pass them at full chat and maybe risk distracting them on the brakes or whatever and that was 151mph on that run. The speed doesn't matter though, they were having an absolute whale of a time in that car and rightly so, they are a very special thing indeed.
