Superdry mens sizing

I'm after some assistance as I am shopping for the boyfriend's birthday (yes I'm a girl on the internet before anyone asks)

I am looking at a Superdry jumper and I wondered how big they came up. He wears a lot of Animal clothing in a medium which covers 38-40 inch chest. With Superdry a medium is 38 inch and a large is 40 inch. Do Superdry mens clothes tend to come up small or would I be ok with a medium? I can't get him to measure his actual size without arousing suspicion and he doesn't currently own any Superdry clothing so I'm hoping you kind folk may be able to help.:D

I have a couple of Superdry t-shirts and around the neck / chest the medium and large and pretty much the same. The large is just longer.
 
for superdry if hes a large buy him a extra large,superdry are retarded at sizing,i bought some stuff friday and i had to buy one size above anything else to fit me
 
Same as me and although I don't have any superdry stuff I automatically go medium. Reading this thread though I always wish my jumpers were a little longer... Go large? Especially if it's a tight fitting one.

Quite the opposite for me. I'm usually a medium and have 3 medium Superdry jumpers (sweatshirts) that fit perfectly.
 
Agreed with the sizing increase - I'm usually a small for tees but find Superdry to be ridiculous. I almost ripped something when trying it on once, that would've been awkward!

Most misleading name of a company to buy a coat from.

Also found that you need to go up a size when buying t-shirts and tops from them.

Trousers/ jeans and the tracksuit trousers all seem to be normal in regards to other brands.
 
Thank you 5UB. Hopefully it will appeal to him, I just thought I would steer him away from Animal for once. :D

You guys still have it easy on the sizing front, female sizing is just absolute fiction.
