HI All

I'm looking at upgrading my aged GTX980 SLI combo to a RTX 3080, I've been looking at the Aorus Xtreme which has a requirement for 3 x 8 pin power connections.

Currently my 980's have 2 x 6 pin connectors plugged in.

Question is how do i overcome this?

I have an old Superflower 1300W as per my sig so guessing power won't be an issue, i'd just be worried about connection the wrong cable to the 3080 and causing some very expensive damage.

Any help gratefully received.

I would have thought with a 1300w unit you would have at least 4 x 8(6+2) pin PCIe cables / ports on the PSU. Would just use a individual cable from psu into each of the GPUs 8 pin which I would expect such a psu capable of.

Thanks for the response, Radox, it’s been so long since I opened my case I wasn’t sure.

I can see the ports on the PSU as they are illuminated and they are mainly in blocks of 6 pins, although the old manual pdf says:

8x 6+2-Pin-PCIe

so am hoping I will find some 2 pins attached to the 6 pins so I can join it all up.

Actually I could have phrased this question a lot simpler.

My Superflower PSU has many illuminated ports some of which power 6+2 PCIe cables.

Presume to maximise power output to my 3080 which has three 8 pin sockets, I need to connect 3 individual leads rather than daisy chaining two 8 pins on one lead back to the PSU?

Hope this makes sense.

That would be ideal.
