I've just bought a Superflower Amazon 550W. Part of the reason I chose it was for the 140mm fan because it's very quiet (as you'd expect from such a large fan).

I read 2 reviews stating it had a 140mm fan and the OcUK page for it says it has a 140mm fan.

It has arrived and it has a 120mm fan. The box states a 120mm fan and my measurement of the fan from the outside is 120mm.

A quick look at Superflower's page seems to show the 500W Amazon model with the 140 mm fan but all other Amazon models with a 120mm fan. Which is a bit strange. Also, some of the models state a 120mm fan that automatically varies in speed depending on temperature and some just state a 120mm fan.

So...does anyone else have one? How big is the fan in it? It seems that Superflower have quietly changed the specs. The PSU isn't the same size overall either - it's 148mm x 138mm x 85mm, not the previously stated size of 163x150x86.

Does anyone know how loud the 120mm fan in new Superflower Amazon PSUs is? Noise was a major factor in my purchase. The 140mm fan was extremely quiet.

I'm awaiting delivery of a CPU and memory (second hand old kit, fingers crossed), so I'm not doing my new build yet.

Paperclip test on the PSU to get the fan spinning, I'd say it will be fairly quiet!

Any fan that isn't broken should be fairly quiet when spun manually at low speed.

Mine was Dead Silent, couldn't hear it only thing i heard was Case Fans so you should be fine.

The key point was the change in spec. The PSU I got does not match the stated specs. The fact that yours was very quiet means nothing at all unless you also answer the question I asked, i.e. which version you had. Since you're talking in the past tense, you probably bought it some while ago. Which means it was probably the older spec, the one that still appears on reviews (which are all from a while ago) and some adverts for it (like the one here). I know that one was silent. That's why I bought what I was led to believe is it. But it isn't it. I want to know what the new one sounds like, the one with the different spec.

Typical of a hybrid unit, will only power up under load or run at a really low PRM. Good choice of unit, the Superflowers are one of the best.

Do you have any results, objective or even subjective, from the new Superflower Amazon 550W, the one with the changed specs, particularly the 120mm fan?

According to Superflower's own site, only some models of Amazon PSU are stated to have a automatically varying speed fan. The 550W model is not stated to have an automatically varying speed fan. Does it actually have one? Who knows? Someone who could answer my question would know.
