Superhub Firewall

Just had VM fit me a SH agter my 300 Modem gave up. It's not sucha bad thing as my old Netgear router throttled my speed to 42Mb and I was in the throws of buying a new one.
With the SH I get 60+ Mb and WiFi is not a problem as I am fully hard wire for the moment.
My only concern is security. Can you guys tell me if the SH has firewall, is it as good as a dedicated router and is it set up by default. If it has one and is disabled can one of you pro's talk me through setting it up and any other config that may come in useful. Thanks.

You mean a firewall?

The SuperHubs do have a firewall yes, I think it's very basic though from what I remember but it should do you for what you need.

Although I shouldn't have been so lazy, I've Googled and found the Superhub config. page.
However although I have found that there is indeed a firewall. It is defaulted at "Low" and all the other settings are not ticked.
I would still apreciate someone telling me if that is sufficeient and whether any other settings should be enabled.

If as I suspect the SH firewall set to low is inadequate. Should I up the setting or is their a software option to secure me instead of firewall and turn off the SH firewall as suggested on VM forums.
I know you guys are more clued up than them and I wouldn't want to just turn it off on their say so.
Please help. Thanks.

Please help as I am not too clued up on the differences between certain firewalls.
All I know is that I had no problems in the 10+ years of my Netgear router and that had A NAT firewall.
This SH firewall has 3 settings Low - High and defaulted to low. On it's highest setting I cannot retrieve my emails and am not sure at all what protection the low setting gives.
Withgout putting the router back on and reverting the SH to a modem only I don't feel safe.
Please guys tell me what setting would be the equivelant to my old router firewall protection.

The SH should block all unsolicited inbound traffic by default. Nothing to worry about.

Keep Windows Firewall enabled (it's on by default) for extra 'protection'.
