I live in a student flat (5 floors, 1 room per floor) and I'm currently using the VM Super Hub 1 which I share my WiFi with my friend a floor above me but he only get's 1-2 signal strength bars in the hallway but no signal in his room which I've searched online and seen reviews and comments from people that the VM Super Hub 1 has really bad wireless range therefore I was thinking of putting the Super Hub into modem mode and connect a better router but I'm not sure which is the best router for £40 that has excellent WiFi range

Best think i can recoomend over that distance is powerline adapters.
I had a really crappy wifi connection over the space of about 25m and i ended up with a patchy 1mps link speed so borrowing some TP link powerline adapters and now getting 87mbps over them on my 100mbps fibre connection :-)

I did think of powerline adapters but my friend needs to connect his laptop, smartphone and iPad as well as I asked the flat owner and he said the ring main circuits is different so I'm not really sure if it will work
