But which wire?

I have some Cat5 knocking around, but I'm not sure if that is up to the job?

The cable will only need to be 2 metres long at the most as I will site the Superhub2 just behind the TV when it's all installed in a couple of weeks.

Cat 5 will work but obviously only give 10/100 connection. Should be fine for a PS4 but if it was myself I'd be wanting to use a Cat5e or 6 just for the knowledge you would have a Gigabit connection

In my experience the PS4 seems to have trouble reaching my advertised download speed. I get the full 100Mb on all devices apart from the PS4.

I've read the built-in speed test is less than accurate however.

Sure it's not the PS4 reporting in MB not Mb?

I get similar speed test results on my PS3, looks as though the speed test server is located in Japan, downloaded content seems to come down fairly quickly though so not too bothered.

Nah it says download is about 30-40Mb. Upload is correct. Think its just the PSN servers.

Checked the cable and its fine when plugged into my laptop, so I think its just on their end.

You'd be suprised how many services do that, allocate specific maximum amounts of bandwidth especially if their servers tend to get pounded on patch day.
