Superman: Legacy

Really looking forward to this much prefer the DC films over marvel now days

Really?

In the past decade if speaking of live action, we've had maybe three legitimately good DC movies since 2015, The Batman, Joker, and arguably the first Wonderwoman.

I realise taste is subjective, but even with the current state of Marvel it's still had more than three decent flicks in the past decade as far as I'm concerned and I'm not even keen on Marvel.

How does it possibly look fake and AI generated?

The dog looks absolutely terrible to the point I've seen better AI content knocking around tbh.

The fact Gunn decided to self-insert his own pet doesn't help either, there's older versions in the comics which I'd much prefer tonally.

Case in point:

I'd say that James Gunn's The Suicide Squad was fairly decent also.

Krypto looks fine and really doesn't even look like a cg dog personally. Not actually his dog as its brown, but based off him. Krypto officially doesn't have a breed as he is Kryptonian but is usually a white dog of some kind as many artists over the years has different looks based on the artist at the time.

I thought Suicide Squad was kinda poo, I wasn't mad at having watched it but it was forgettable.

As for his dog, outside of the colouration they're almost identical mate so it really is his dog lol, he even gave it the same mannerisms. The only reason it's white is for the same reason you mentioned, he's usually represented as something akin to a Labrador or a larger dog with actual presence instead of a ridiculous curly mess.

The first Suicide Squad definitely was poo, but the second one was so much better. Which might not be saying much.

His design in this doesn't really bother me. Just glad he is there.

Aye, that's fair.

I'm not a huge Superman fan admittedly and honestly I do despite my seeming negativity hope this works out well. I actually think GoG was pretty much the best the MCU had to offer outside of Ironman too, so I don't think Gunn is incapable by any means. It's just hard to get hyped anymore, and I'll also say that I felt despite most DC movies being poo they did a damn good job with some of the tv shows. Early Arrowverse was good (aka seasons 1-3 of Arrow and Flash), I really enjoyed Doom Patrol, Pennyworth was done dirty which I very much enjoyed too and deserved at least one more season to wrap things up.

Didn't rate The Batman at all, Joker didn't do it for me either though I can see why some would like it. I wouldn't watch either of them again.

Wonder Woman (the first one. 1984 was crap) is about the best thing DC have done in the last decade.

Loads of press interviews with the cast + James Gunn across the movie media and news channels have been appearing over the last couple of days.

These are easy enough to find, if not already popping up on your feeds so won't link them, but David really does seem to live the role and hype is definitely building. It does seem to focus on being a core Superman / DC film avoiding the pitfalls of post Infinity War Marvel Disney offerings

If families see this as a wholesome core family film and turn out, then I wonder if we could see an £800m+ box office overall i.e. Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy levels.

I saw the Spin Master Superman Action Figure displays in various shops at the weekend and the figures look fun plus reasonably priced so it seems they are pitching it this way.

+I hope it revitalises the Lego DC Toy Universe which has been pretty dry for a long season bar Batman and more Batman sets.

I personally really liked Superman Returns, and Man Of Steel, both had great casting choices actor wise, and they just worked in their own ways!

I don't think we really need this version, I cannot see it beating either of the previous...
DC are so hit and miss compared to Marvel, granted Marvel does seem to be churning out junk these days, but they have far more 1 after another decent quality content, and reasonably faithful translations from the comics.

The one thing DC always nail is Batman related stuff, bar Batman versus Superman - that was very hit or miss, but I did rewatch it and enjoyed it a lot more, and what was good was good in that, but the terrible cheap CGI bits surprised me, as things like TDK trilogy were always top notch, as were the aforementioned Superman's, so I wonder if they were just being tight on the budget, or simply that Snider thought this cheap CGI was 'good enough'
