Supermarket Sell by dates

Why is it every week within 2 days I'm having to throw out food, today we binned Scones, muffins, bread & crumpets despite only buying them 2 days ago & this isn't a one off, its every time within a few days of doing a large shop.

Why should we be expected to check every sell by date while rushing around the supermarket as we have to work almost every hour gods sends these days.

These supermarkets are making Millions & have a high turn over yet sell food that goes out of date within a few days.

Yet we are being told we waist food

I just think supermarkets should provide a better service than they do really.

No its not rocket science to check dates but more often than not they are all dated the same, I cant understand how supposedly freshly made food cant last a week with such a high turn around these big supermarkets have.

by what's been said by many above I should just roll over & take it up the ..... or even better I'll join the dole que so I have time to sort through the shelves before putting in in the trolley.

Places like Tesco are open 24/7 (well the extra's are anyawy), so on the way home pop in and buy stuff. Doing that every other day dosent take any more time than one big shop and stuff should always be okay. That's what I do.

Probably best , Suppose we only have ourselves to blame for letting all the small local shops down as well .

But seeing as the OP doesn't want to even spend 2 seconds looking at a date on a packet I doubt if this will interest them.

my weekly shopping bill is up to around £150 a week, so many people are moaning about fuel yet I'm told to take extra visits to the supermarket, we are told we are wasting to much food & we clearly do & we have supermarkets making annual profits of 2billion.

I spent a brief time working in a supermarket many years ago & this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6676345.stm does go on & obviously still does but I'm making it up ?


Like everyone else I'll start getting stuff from the back of the shelf.
