Supermarket Smoked Mackerel

Does anyone know what wood is usually used to smoke the mackerel sold in supermarkets? I've tried the ones from Morrisons, Sainsburys, Asda and Tesco, and they all taste the same so they must all use the same wood(s).

I liked smoked mackerel from M&S but I do wonder if it's actually smoked. Aren't most dyed to look smoked?

I know smoked haddock is dyed yellow.

I don’t think any fish from the supermarket is smoked traditionally any more. It couldn’t be done in the quantities needed.

Pretty sure most in supermarkets is just flavouring.
A good liquid smoke is actually very good, i have some i use and its hard to tell the difference if you don't overdo it.
