For thoes of you familar with Aldi does its none brand names put you off? or are you happy to shop here because its good value for money. My mum does most of our food shops there because its cheap this is mostly fine by me however some of the stuff from there is just nasty like the batterd fish pieces despite containing the word " filleted " on the box very rarely aren't.

I buy in terms of quality, not brands.

I am happy buying ASDA valued Lemonade as I am buying some french imported cheese from a deli.

But when buying blind, first time, branded stuff "generally" give you a certain standard of quality.

Thread on this in La Cuisine. Aldi is good for some things (chorizo, fruit and veg, oatcakes, frozen pizza, cheese etc) but I wouldn't be able to do a full shop there. A tesco just opened up on my street so I don't go to Aldi as much now anyway.

Try Aldi's dairymilk ripoff chocolate; the buttons or the bars... they're amazing. Apart from that I've not tried anything from there.

In general across all supermarkets own brands I think they have to be tried.

Some they get right and some are god awful! My kids for instance wont eat Tesco own brand cheerios but will eat most of their other own brand cereals.

Aldi do some great stuff, and some rubbish stuff. The same is true of all supermarkets. Asda fruit and veg is utter garbage, for example.

I personally think the own brand drinks are the worst out of all the products. Especially the orange juice, giving a nasty after taste.

Makes me feel sick...

I shop where it's convenient for me. So that could be a farmers market when it's open near by, or the butcher or Sainsburys (my local supermarket) etc... It's lazy I know, but I don't fancy driving for 30 mins just to find a certain type of food shop.

a lot opf the stuff in aldi/lidil is brilliant quality and taste wise, mostly the German/continental stuff though rather than the cheap freezer crap you find everywhere.

I like aldi tbh, used to shop there a lot as a student, I prefer their version of special K (vitality) (yes gay I know..)

But generally I've found things like bacon, sausages, cereals, pizza's, ice cream (the little black tubs) very good. I find they lack quality in fresh fruit and some other general items but overall they're good.

The tills are a pita though...

Bought a bunch of stuff from aldi, from fresh fruit to muchy peas and i havent had anything that doesnt taste or look any different from tesco made stuff, but its mostly a lot cheaper!

Dabbled with their alcahol a little, what ive had was good.

They dont like it though if your slow on the tills do they...
