After some recommendations for a replacement supermini car. I have size restrictions for winter garage storage, and the possible insurance reduction advantage. Would be looking at part exchange.

Currently I have a Fiat Punto Mark 2 (facelift) 2004 3-door measuring (mm) 3843 long, 1660 wide (excluding mirrors). I've never tried a different car in the garage, and the pillar support mid way hinders drivers access. But I don't know how much wider I could go without trying to park it in the garage and exit the vehicle.

So far I've been brochure considering (width without/with mirrors)
Renault Twingo 1654 / 1927
Citroen C2 (maybe VTS trim) 1659 / 1898
Mitsubishi Colt (maybe Ralliart) 1695

Don't like the rebranded C1, Aygo, 107. Undecided about the Yaris and Mazda 2. So guess after opinions of the above selection, or alternatives remembering width restriction. As French cars seem to received a lot of negativity.

Would like some performance ability.

Suzuki swift sport?

I thought the Swift was wider than 1690 when I checked ages ago so discounted it.

When I have glanced at Swift Sport in car parks they look O.K. from certain angels, but not that big a fan of the rounded mini look.

As for the Twingo I’ve got to see if I like the centre positioned speedo. Think that’s going to be the make or break issue.

Can you get them with electric folding wing mirrors? Would be good to be able to flick a switch to fold them before you drive in so you can get closer to the wall on the passenger side

Again, not sold on the Fabia design. And the Seat Ibiza is in the same category of indifference. Also not a fan of Mini's, just too rounded.

I used to like the Smart ForFour, but never really seen many around, apart from passing, to get a good view of them. That's why I was considering Mitsubishi Colt as it was a joint venture.

Also used to like the Honda Civics before the recent re-design, but that's a different size catagory of car so a no go.

I prefer a straighter or acute drop at the back instead of a sloping/sticking out rear.

I'll try and view the models I've listed, and if not too sold it’s back to waiting for something new.

Thanks for suggestions so far. Don't know if this class of car includes single button press auto retracting wing mirrors.

Very good point - some 3 door cars have stupidly long doors.

Alternatively, get something with a sunroof?
