support for the british worker

I havent got a chip on my shoulder thanks very much.

I had a problem with people who are no doubt in decent paying jobs telling manual workers that if they should expect to keep their jobs or be able to get work they should work for less money due to penny pinching fat cats who no doubt will receive a huge bonus because they realised they could ship in workers cheaper from another country.

Not a digg or anything.

But we also employed some Polish chaps in our It place to help out two or three times over the past three years, so it kinda works both ways.

Although granted they didn't take our jobs.

You tell him.

These office puffs wouldn't know work if it hit them in the face.

Yes, because you do something tedious, poorly paid and menial, you are an elite uber man, while as I use my brain and take risks to benefit my family, I am a poof.

You keep thinking that if it makes you feel better:D

I don't think you should work harder for less pay, in fact I don't care what you do. What I don't respond well too is the knee jerk protectionism and borderline communist atitude tinged with racism certain groups of workers display the moment there is a whiff of uncertainty about their jobs. The job for life is gone, get over it. When times are good we all like the free market, but only as long as it suites.

I feel for anyone facing uncertainty and I empathise (as I have my fair share at the moment). I also respect anyone who works hard to provide for their family. This does not mean that somehow unskilled, semi-skilled or manual workers give more to society (as they most certainly do not) than professionals.

They are whining about the Italians taking the jobs etc etc. Total Fina Elf whining about loosing $ a day during the protests. Solution the 40% workforce that is currently down get some more wap's over :)

Job done

Dont worry once we've all been forced out of our jobs you can whinge about how we're all on benefits.

That's the thing I don't get - all the moaning about lazy brits claiming benefits and having to commit crime to buy food etc, then celebrating a policy that will force more white working-class people into claiming benefits and criminal activities. It's taking self-loathing to a totally bizarre new level

Factory work in general is easy, some of them are soul destroying. Try working in a sheet metal factory on a press. The constant clunking, which isn't just a noise, its actually inside your head then combine that with the total boredom and risk of chopping off your fingers.

to give you an idea there was a woman who worked there and they had a "celebration" of her 25yrs work , she got a clock for never being late then she broke down crying and never came back, she got a job working in a nursery looking after kids.

LOL then more fool her for having no ambition 25 years ago.

I pity this country with people like you living in it.

I'll qualify my remark. I am a technician in the test lab of a company that manufactures plastic fittings for gas and water mains. Part of it is building heavy test rigs for pressure testing, part of it is doing tests using expensive analytical equipment. The other part is editing my test data and typing my reports into the test database.

On the days where I spend all day catching up with my editing and typing in the office (as opposed to actually getting the company's products built up and on test) I sit there wondering how office wallahs can justify their salaries when almost anybody with rudimentary pc skills can do their ****-easy jobs.

I have "A" levels and an HND and I used to work in the waste industry. I used to work in all weathers sampling and screening lorry-loads of drums of industrial chemical waste. This was not menial, but it was hard due to the conditions. On any of those days where I was freezing my balls of I would have killed to be in an office supping coffee all day.

I'm going on benefits soon, mainly cause i cant find a job at the minute.

That and I've paid my fair share of taxes, so hey :p

What exactly is wrong with fat cats doing exactly that? Saving the share holder's money, making the company more profitable and generally acting in its best interests - basically doing their job.

Do people deserve a job more simply because they happened to be born in close proximity to the location of the job?

Well if all you're concerned about is the bottom line, then nothing. Just remember you can all be replaced.

I think everyone knows this. Most management and fat cat jobs aren't for life and you can get replaced very quickly if shareholders don't have faith in your abilities. That is why you work to further yourself and make yourself irreplaceable to a company and attain higher positions. Then if your company does fold/let you go, you have a better chance finding new work. This is nothing new  and has been normal for years......
