Supporting 1.8m worktop without units

Long story short, I'm going to be wanting to put a worktop approx 1.8m long over the top of two appliances (tumble dryer/washing machine) but there aren't any kitchen units underneath to support in the traditional way.

I do have the luxury of the wall to the rear being brickwork, so I can get some decent fixings in to there (60mm expanding bolts, 10mm dia).

My plan at the moment is to use a piece of particleboard (assuming MDF) with a 3.5mm solid birch laminate on all faces (3.8cm thick total) as the material. Rear support will come from a piece of 2x2 anchored into the wall horizontally, recessed in a couple of inches from each end of the worktop. There will be a central support in between the two appliances fixed two thirds of the way towards the front of the worktop to take the frontal loading. Floor underneath is tiled.

I'm thinking that should give me a pretty solid setup, assuming I don't start piling heavy machinery on it! The reason for doing it this way is I haven't found any worktop/table legs that I like the look of, so this seems a way around the issue.

What do you reckon?

stud wall behind the appliances? if so find the studs, once you find the first one its neighbours will be at either 400 or 600mm intervals, and attach a batten of the required length into them. You can either use boards, sideways, or buy legs for the front support.

had this at my parents house. ~2meter kitchen worktop secured purely by a wooden baton running around the edge.

it had been there a good 5-6 years with no movement with 2 pcs on it at either end, printer, books it got heavy use didn't sag or move an inch
