Does anyone know when is supreme commander 2 due to be released, is it a long way off still?
Thanks.

I read in the wiki for supreme commander that it should be here in 2010.

Supreme Commander 2 is the title of the sequel announced in November 2008. It will be developed in a partnership between Gas Powered Games and Square Enix.
It has also been announced at E3 on 2 June 2009 with a trailer called "Supreme Commander 2 A Single Bullet Trailer" at the end of the trailer it states that Supreme Commander 2 will be coming in 2010

Which is apparently like DoW2, no base building. I don't know if that's definite though.
Am not 100% sure on if there any base builting or not in C&C4

I read this below...But i see base builtings in some the screenshots
Always on the Move – For the first time ever in the C&C series: a massive, mobile, all-in-one base, The Crawler, lets you pack up and move your base with your army for a new layer of strategic depth. Build units as you move across the field, and deploy whenever and wherever you choose!
C&C4 thread here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18088597&highlight=Command+Conquer

Better get back on topic of supreme commander 2

Kind of reminds of that mobile fortress in supcom. Which was a pain to get around the map. :p

I really really can't wait for this though!

Looking forward to this greatly - have had countless hours of fun with SupCom and FA - I just hope they don't dumb down the base building too much either as I've seen that they've changed other things a fair bit like the Fatboy ... which isn't so "fat" anymore ... it's more akin to a large tank now :(

Its a big change to the econ, but it looks like it will be bring a lot more of the action back and I think thats what scared a lot of people off from supcom vanilla.

The game certainly looks more arcade than supcom and FA, but I think it still has a lot of wow factor to it.

plus lovely lovely strategic zoom (hugs)

Last time I looked it seemed that they had taken away everything that made Supcom 1 great. Small scale, simplified economy - suddenly just unit spam :(

I'll reserve full judgement until I've looked into it more and played it, but currently I've not got my hopes up.

This. I loved the economy in SC1, and don't see why they had to change it. What was complicated about it? It all made sense :(

They took away a lot of what was supcom to replace it with what all the people who disliked supcom complained was missing.

I personally was very worried about the econ replacement, but in fairness it actually seems quite sound and one of the major problems with supcom vanilla is definately the retraction from strategic combat in place of econ

Basically the person who can micro manage econ the most effieciently whilst spamming T1 is usually the winner until you get the real high level players.

SupCom is HARD to pick up even by RTS standards it's hard

I enjoyed watching the E3 youtube clip of Chris Taylor talking about it, he actually shows his enthusiasm and his love for gaming, something which is sorely lacking in most developers these days (Heres looking at you IW).

Supreme commander is one of the best RTS's on pc, as far as I'm concerned. Definitely up there with CoH, especially as my favourite tactic is to turtle, build my economy and techs then go all out. I just hope SC2 doesn't go down the route CNC4 has, with little actual base building.

That's what I love about Supreme Com, it allows you to choose a strategy that best suits you. For example, as a turtle most other RTS games will give you limited buildings to defend yourself with but with Supreme Com you have plenty of buildings to use for defense/offence.

This overall streamlining of the series does come at a cost, however: mod support, while still supported with an inherently moddable engine, does not extend to custom maps. Taylor explained that the campaign maps were designed with a bevy of industrial-grade tools and programmes and simply could not be shipped or supported officially on the user-end. He was, however, adamant that you should never say never when it comes to the PC modding scene.

Its like its getting worse!

Yeah, thats nice :)

...however, I'm not sure about sup com 2, from the trailers I've seen it looks cartoony ant less 'realistic' (if you can call giant robot armies realistic!)... Also they said a lot about making the resource management simpler... I mean how simple can you get : build power plants, build mexes and fabricators... I'm a little worried it may be a little too simplified, which would put me off... I was hoping for just a bigger and better version of the first one, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen :(

Ahh, someone else who plays like me! I thought I was the only one.

Yes, as you said Fibbles, building eco and tech then go mad. And as you say Mart, too. In most other RTS, Turtling is just a loss tactic, however in SupCom you can defend yourself from almost any attack (Including nukes which is perfect, let down in CnC).

I was a long time CnC fan, and then I discovered SupCom. Far surpasses it imo! Infact I played the latest Red Alert not long ago, and it felt like RTS for kids :/
