So the newest game on special offer on Steam is Supreme Commander 2. £2.49 for the game and £1.74 for the DLC.

Is this any good? The trailer makes it look like it could be at least semi-decent.

I love it
I think ive played just under 100 hours on it.
Fantastic to play online with mates on just for the sheer amount of units/experimentals you can get :D

I never really liked the original but i gave this one a go after PCGAMER gave it their coop game of the year award. I was really pleased with it, great little strategy game. Glad i gave it a go. If you fancy a game, please feel free to add me on steam.

Yeh I love it. I picked it up over christmas in the steam deals. I was looking for an RTS game that wasn't too difficult to play and this fit the bill!

I bought it. Wont get around to playing it for a while though. Already got a half dozen other new games to try out on my new PC before I even get around to this one.

Easily worth whatever small and silly amount of money they are asking this time. The only problem is that the original Supreme Commander (Forged Alliance) is more.. well, Supreme. Supreme 2 is the better game but Supreme 1 is more impressive and epic.

For the asking price you can hardly go wrong even if you only have the smallest interest in stratergy games.... its got quite a good online community still playing it and no doubt a whole load more people now cos of the sale.

You bought it because of a PC Gamer award? Seriously?

For £2.50 you may aswell get it even if all you do is play the story through. Decent but not even in the same league as the original.

I bought it for a similar price during the xmas sale. I've not played it yet (damn backlog), but am up for some Steam co-op (albinoeatpod on Steam) at some point.

Same here.

It has been ages since I bought it in the sales but still haven't even downloaded it. :p. I really enjoy these kind of strategy games aswell thanks to command and conquer red alert which I loved:).

Yeah, what is wrong with that? there was an article about it around christmas time. Do you not read reviews first, to judge if a game is worth your hard earned cash?

In fact I was dead against buying it when it came out because it looked pants. Play it with a few mates online though, and its a cracking game.

If i do i certainly don't buy it based on something by PC Gamer alone...

Its an average to decent game that just plain sucks compared to the original.

Have played it a little since getting it stupidly cheap in the sales and it's not too bad, a definite scale difference to be seen but at least they kept the zoom :D

I don't like how easy it is to tech up and be churning out experimentals in SC2 - SC1 it felt like you'd achieved something by lasting that long and being able to deploy one!

Too true, i was gutted when it came out and, while i was expecting some changes, i couldnt believe how dumbed down it was :(

Indeed. The tech tree is so ridiculously small, especially when you can research your own advances and just power through to Energy>Metal Conversion which stops you worrying about metal, ever. TA and SupCom felt like you were advancing through multiple tech trees with the higher tier stuff actually taking a while to build, SupCom2 is really just a single tier with experimentals...

Still playin it, and like it more than i thought i would. am playing using the revamp mod for skirmishes, and its fun...

Revamp

It brings over some units and buildings from 1 and FA, increases the unit count to 2000, and you get some new units to play with.

no, its terrible compared to the first game, its not even on the same level as the first. bought it, played it, realised everything that made the original great had been watered down or removed, regretted it, went back to playing the original. ;)
