Supreme commander substitute?

A few maps, some units that should've been in the game to begin with and some enhancements in the research tree, not even something in the way of a SP campaign, for £10? Its not even worth half that

It's £7 and I picked it up for £1.75 in the sale, which it was well worth! :)

*checks steamprices.comm* ah my bad, its 10 euros, think it popped up first when i was in Finland so ><

Either way the Revamp mod probably adds 10x more to the game...

I thought this Pc gamer article put it quite well (http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/12/25/pc-gamer-uks-co-op-game-of-the-year/)

"If you loved Supreme Commander, you probably didn’t like Supreme Commander 2. And if you didn’t like Supreme Commander, you probably didn’t play Supreme Commander 2. It was an awkwardly pitched sequel: a game that solved the accessibility issues of the first game, bought primarily by people who didn’t want them solved."

Personally, i think SupCom2 was something completly different, trying to create something in the mould of Starcraft 2 prior to its release.

There is a fix for that problem, quite easy to find online, just need to edit an ini or something. Worked for me.

From what I can find, the only fix if for the original SupCom, not FA, as that allready has the fix built into it. However it's still unable to use more than 4GB of ram (including gfx ram) Does anyone know if/how you can reduce the amount of gfx ram a program sees? As if I can limit the game to only using ~1GB of gfx ram, I then have 3GB of system ram I could use, which means it *should* mean that it takes longer to crash...

I want to play TA again...

*has just finished downloading it* Nostalgia *** :D

Some day i will try and work through every campaign mission and every Battle Tactic setting... Just wish i still had the original discs (or better yet that it would be released on Steam not Impulse...), would be much easier.

*cries* CC/BT won't install, the setup.exes aren't compatable with 64bit OSs.

You can just copy the relevant files across, no need to run the installer :)

Copy CCMAPS.CCX and CCDATA.CCX (and CCMISS.CCX if you want TA:CC missions) straight from the TA:CC cd to the new totala dir -- where totala1.hpi is.
Copy BTMAPS.CCX straight from the TA:BT cd to the new totala dir -- where totala1.hpi is.

Principle should also hold for BT missions :)

Yeah found a link that said just that. There was another that did something considerably more complex :p

Basically copy everything in the CC folder, then BT folder and overwrite. Works fine as far as i can tell.

Having read the above posts, I'm still not sure if my problem is addressed - my mate and I had a quick go on SupCom2 last night and we both got some "juddering" or pauses, especially when zoomed quite close in - is there any fix for this??

Thanks..

Nope!!! No idea what it even is tbh!

I only got this in the Steam sales at xmas so very new at it!

How does it work and where can I get it from?

Still have mine. :)

Some of the campaign missions are near-impossible on hard difficulty, and there are still MP communities around (especially for mods like Escalation, which is basically Supcom units ported into TA).

You can find it here, it basically allows supreme commander & forged alliance to use multiple cores of your CPU properly (vastly improves game speeds)

Can't say i'm too bothered about proper MP, i just like to mess around on skirmish sometimes. I'll have to give them all a try, tink i did the campaigns once but that was years ago.

*also wants to play Wargames now* :p
Shame the campaign was dreadfully unbalanced so it promoted abusing AI/upgrade mechanics more than anything else and it had no skirmish though...

You might want to try Switeck's AI mod as well, drastically improves the skirmish AI (okay, it's not a code rewrite, but it will build the right units on the right maps).
