Supreme commander vs C&C 3

SC was the worst RTS I have played in a long time, to me, the only RTS's worth playing are the C&C series.

C&C RA2 : YR to this day, is my favourite C&C game.

Generals was good, but not as good as RA2.

C&C3 is good, very good, but I do not like the way they have made the left and right mouse buttons different to previous C&C games.

To me it should be;

Left click to select, left click to move, left click to attack, left click to garrison etc, right click to 'deactivate' selected unit.

in C&C3 it is;

Left click to select, right click to move, right click to garrison etc left click to the 'deactivate' selected unit.

That to me, is a problem, I'll get used to it im sure, but it's not a good move IMO.

DoW is so not better than either of them! I really don't understand the DoW love that seems so rampant, it was pretty dull for me.

Back on topic, I haven't got the C&C3 demo yet, but have got SC. Played my first online game today and just seemed to spend the whole time watching coloured squares and triangles; if you are zoomed in close enough to see anything you are far to close to do anything.

I always preferred the c&c build style, everything centrally built rather than loads of builder units. I also like the fact it has engineers, Tanya, spys, yuri's, chrono commanders etc. which do something abit different. The commando from the original c&c would c4 the ass off a monkey lord!

SC and CnC3 seemed dull to me :p

both of them offer something different to both CnC and SC, if you dont like the playstyle of either of them fair enough but they are worth mentioning

as for the DoW love, i rarely see anyone mention it anymore :(

It was mainly the cutscenes that I didn't like in DoW, I just couldn't get into the world or care about the story. It also seemed really easy, I think I blasted through it without failing a mission once, probably on medium to be fair though.

What was that game where you started with like 5 units and that was it, you had to do the mission before you. Gunstar? Dropship? Now that was a game, I loved it so much until the mission which took an hour to complete and kept crashing right at the end :(

the campaign missions werent all that in DoW(same for winter assault and DC tbh), it is much better online though. at the end of the day you complete the campaign in a rts maybe a few times at most and the rest of the time you play it online so it never really bothered me

i like supreme commander, but its just glorified remake of total annihilation, C&C games have always been a bit dull IMO, generals (i know sorry C&C fanboys, who all seem to HATE generals for some reason) was the best of the C&C series to date, the best RTS was starcraft, it has still yet to be beaten but there are some good ones that haven't been mentioned, star wars empire at war FOC im particularly fond of, battle for middle earth 2 which is great game (C&C generals engine), COH i was less than blown away by, though its good game non the less but it certainly doesn't live upto the hype it gets on these forums, DoW is great game, one of the best but in dark crusade they let it down by making the whole 'world conquering' campaign (like BFME2) so small in comparison :(

I'm a bit bored of SC, it's a real rts but against a hard ai its not something that you can play laid back, with all c&c games i can just sit back and play without using any hotkey's etc. without sweating and with hardly any attention, just sit back and play, while iwth supcom i have to give orders and work all the time, i mean if i want a serious game it's the better game imo. but you cant just sit back when playing as ** supposed to increase ** unit production & resource production nonstop...

Personally i liked all C&C games so far but i haven't really played tib sun and renegade, only RA, RA2, C&C original and generals (and offcoruse C&C 3 demo).

Tried supcom and like it, but onyl when i want a challenge with masses of units, usually with lazy me i prefer RA2 as I have to do less.

@ Gashman

Played starcraft, but got bored of it so soon i hardly played more as 10 games or so, imo AOE2 rules for the ''serious'' old gen rts games and RA2 for the ''laidback'' RTS games.

totally different games imo C&C3 would be the cutie chick at the party u never see again (quick frantinic gameplay) and SC would be a long term relationship (takes longer to get more out of it but untmately more satisfying

DOW is someware un the middle say a a 3 week fling :D

cnc3 is more fast paced etc, more arcade kinda strategy
DoW, kinda the same, also great game.
CoH, DoW with more strategy, great even if you're a lazy unclever person :)
SupCom, a lot more strategic, longer games too, either love or hate it

either way, starcraft is better than all online!! :D
Aoe2 - also brilliant i agree, wish theyd remake with better graphics etc though, aoe3 was pants in my opinion :p
Warcraft 3 has the best story iv ever followed to be honest, even better than the C+C games.

lol i agree about SC being a bit intense, it gets me into a frenzy of panick as you cant stop for 30 seconds or you lose out.

A bit off topic guys (sorry :p ) but do you think my specs will be able to handle C&C3 well? Not really up to date with PC gaming at the moment, cheers :)

Well if my x800GTO2 can run the C&C 3 demo with everything maxed out smoothly, I'm sure a GTX of any calibre will have no problems.

That's like a bloke in a Bugatti Veyron turning up to a street race and asking if his car will be able to cope.
