Hi Guys

On my new Surface Pro 3, is there a way, when in Desktop Mode, to make my installed programs appear in the Start Menu?

At the moment, if I click the Start button bottom left in Desktop Mode, I just get taken through to the Tablet Start screen. I want to have a programs menu like I used to on Vista, is this possible?

Thanks

I was using windows 10 and 8.1 for awhile on my gaming PC and just installed classic shell which gave me the start menu of windows 7 which I liked.

maybe install this to get that menu back as I don't think there is anything in 8.1 that allows you to do this.

the start button just takes you to the tile UI and if you right click it just gives you short cuts to commonly accessed places like control panel etc

If you right click the taskbar and go into properties and select the navigation tab, there is an option under start screen - "show the apps view automatically when I go to start".

Is that what you're after?

Yes that's great thanks, that gives me the quicker access to programs I wanted.
