Hi Guys

Part of my work requires quick flow diagrams, and taking notes.
Are any of you using the SP4 for the purposes of doing visio diagrams and taking notes?

I hate carrying my laptop for taking notes, and people feel interrupted when you type away rather than take notes.. and note books and the sort aren't really confidential.

Are any of using the SP4 for a similar purpose, and is it worth getting for it?

If you do, make sure you get the extra pen tip kit and change the standard tip to a non rubber one. It leaves marks everywhere.

Another question I would check is does the SP4 have the same overheating problems the SP3 is known for.

The SP3's we have at work get really hot especially when sat on the dock. They get that hot you can actually burn your fingers if you touch the screen as the docks partially cover the ventilation holes. Terrible design.

I have an i5 128gb model. I use it a lot on my commute, it's great. I don't use it for drawings (might give it a go) but use it for taking notes, it's fantastic. Proper quick too and battery lasts about 4 hours but I have uber performance mode all the time. I have the keyboard and a rugged case, mouse and pen set.

Mines never overheated, even when playing XCOM on it! Apparently the i7's sometime overheat/ are bad on battery.

Windows 10 pro is good so you can use hyper v, you can also domain join it. It's a really nice piece of kit. Windows hello is cool too!

SP4 i5/8GB owner here, it doesn't really get that hot unless something is ramping up the GPU. Chrome use to, but the latest update seems to keep my SP4 cool now.

Mostly use it for work purposes, from taking notes and remoting to other PCs. I haven't tried Visio so can't really comment on that.

Pen works pretty well but when I was changing the battery I accidentally ripped one of the contact pads inside so the eraser end wasn't detected by the screen until I glued a bit of copper foil to replace the contact.

The kind of notes I take are more diagrammatic with a few scribbles nothing long form. I had a quick play with it and made my first flow diagram for a complex issue I am working on. Really chuffed with how intuitive that pen is. Drag, drop scale perfect for visio!

Couldn't be happier :)
