Guys and Gals,

I am looking to replace my dying iPad 3, after iOS 10 came out its been a slog to use...

I commute on train for 3+hrs a day (I know....) and tend to use the iPad for watching Amazon Prime Video or movie files, reading scientific papers (pdf mainly) or working on Word/Powerpoint documents. The latter two are more troublesome but as I have Office 365 is possible.

I am looking to replace it, the idea was initially to get a newer iPad, but instead of using it as a glorified casual gaming device and work I wondered if its time to go back to the days of a laptop. (Have a Dell XPS 15 thats a brick and not worth carrying).

What I thought was a clear choice would be the Surface Pro 4, 256GB i5 variant with a type cover. Currently doing an offer with free XBOX One S *which I dont want or need, can sell* but then saw the HP Spectre 360 in a store. Looked thin, light and possibly usable as a tablet (fold away keyboard) so really am at a loss as to which direction to go in.

Whilst money isnt too much of an issue, I am not in the position to get a Surface book, looks nice etc. So its either Surface Pro 4 (256GB/i5/8GB RAM), HP Spectre 360 (i5, 8GB RAM) or just a newer iPad Pro 9.7 128GB.

Any thoughts and suggestions as to direction would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Amazon prime video only allow downloading to the device on iOS or Android, so if you went for a Windows tablet/laptop then you will have to rely upon a constant data connection in order to steam films/tv shows.

Yeah sorry I realised I missed that out, thanks! I know it doesnt work on Windows but that doesnt bother me, still plenty to watch, might encourage me to work more on the train :D
