When downloading something, e.g a game from steam, I can no longer access websites. It just gives a website cannot be found.

I have a DGN2000 router

Any idea what's happening?

You will probably need to cap the speed using netlimiter as Steam is saturating your line.

if you're getting 'website cannot be found' then it's most likely that your router is being overwhelmed by the amount of connections steam is creating. try increasing available connections in the router menu (dgteam has that option at least), or try decreasing connections used in Steam itself (if possible?).

Doesn't Steam use P2P? Some routers die when a small amount of connections are made, for example the DIR615 default f/w suffers at around 30 and I wouldn't be surprised if Steam exceeded this amount.

Have you compared how fast you are downloading to a speed test? Remember download speeds are usually given in bytes and speed tests in bits. 8 bits to a byte

How would you go about doing that?
