I’ve always gone with the Belkin surge protection strips as I know the brand name, only down side is they’re white and pretty big with the extra switch. I do have a fair amount plugged into it, desktop, monitor, speakers console, sometimes worry it’s to much but rarely on all at the same time.
Doesn’t make any noise, I’m pretty fussy about noise levels. Not to expensive either.

I know a few people use UPS's and have said to have minimalised or even got rid of coil whine. Worth a punt though it is expensive.
Careful you check that the Protecting Light isn't on is due to another issue; We had one at a different location and wouldn't provide the Protecting Light because there was an issue with the Earth line in the socket. But the Surge Protector itself was fine.Just checked my 10 way tower, no idea what make it is, or how old it is. Suspect it's a Pro Elec. Anyway, the green light which I'm assuming should be lit to say it's protecting, isn't.
Looks like I'm on the hunt for one this afternoon then!
I mean it's really really old. I have no idea if light out means protected or not protected. Easier to just swap for something new!Careful you check that the Protecting Light isn't on is due to another issue; We had one at a different location and wouldn't provide the Protecting Light because there was an issue with the Earth line in the socket.
