Surprised by the heat

Wow.

Ive just finished my new loop and this time I incorporated my NB and SB into my cpu loop and I just cant believe how much more heat this has dumped into my loop. Before my q9650 would idle at 33degs and now writing this with a little i-tunage going on in the background its sitting at 38. Now its not a massive hike but im still shocked. This is gonna sound a really dumb ass question now but when I load up my cpu with prime or something similiar and the temp increases there will the NB temp rise to? or is that a bit of a constant temp?

it will rise slightly its mainly the Vregs which make the most heat i have my x58 WC but the x58 was a very cool chipset and if iam right the 700 nforce series made a lot of heat so iam sure its just down to what set up your using to if its worth watercooling ya mobo i had a 780i and that was stupid for heat in your case with all your gfx cards WC and CPU i would leave your mobo out off the loop as it might lower your achivable OC you'll just have to test it and find out only way to tell just keep an eye on the temps as your cpu will also be heating the water which is ment to be cooling your mobo just some thing to think about
 
I also found when I cooled my mosfets and chipsets on my old s775 that not only the heat added to my cpu idle but the blocks are very restrictive and greatly dropped my flowrate in the loop down which also raises temps.

Decided that I wouldn't bother doing that again unless I had a multi loop system.

Thats what I did. I went dual loop. Long story short on the cpu loop alone I have a 360 and a 120 cooling just the cpu and NB/SB combo block that comes on the asus striker 790i. I have a 18w swiftech pump pushing the water round and its all on half inch tubing apart from a lenth which had to drop down a size to use the mobo' pre installed barbs. So I guess the flowrate is kinda slowed abit by the smaller tubing, but not by a huge amount I would have thought.

I have a bitspower 790i mobo and mosfets set to apply in a couple of weeks time and that will but the cpu loop all back on half inch tubing, I wonder if it will help at all?
 
you have an nforce chipset, they are notorious for running very hot.
more specifically, you have an nforce chipset running SLI.

why are you surprised by the extra heat?

you dont see the 775 intel chipsets with fans attatched to the northbridges.

the only way you will reduce loop temps is to take the northbridge out of the loop.

Thanks for that! Im reluctant to take the nb out of the loop now. I was asking the question as after passing ibt on standard my max temp was 64 degrees and what i want to know is if i push my clock harder will the nb get even warmer? Im not planning on raising voltages any higher at present. My gpus are in sli but on a seperate loop
 
Yes they the NB will get hotter as more stress is put on it but 64C is still fine. My q9650 use to top out at 72C before becoming unstable at 4.85Ghz.
