Surround on 1 EVGA 670 OC or ADD a 2nd???

With 1 card you won't be able to push decent frames on the settings you'd need to use up 4gb of vram.

With 2 cards the same applies.

Bf3 you will need a minimum of 2 cards for good frames, mw3 idk.
 
just to get this straight - do you already have a 4GB 670?

2 cards would be a very minimum for running a 3 screen setup - you will need to get a card that matches your existing one's memory size - so if you already have a 4GB then yes get another 4GB, or if you have a 2GB card then you'll need another 2GB card

be aware that you'll not be getting the full benefit of the 4GB until you get to 3 cards

Yip 1x 670 4gb Evga oc edition
Asus z77 premium and 3770k

Wow three cards I'm stretching it getting another one Lol
 
you fell in to that trap when you bought a 4GB card and 3 monitors in the first place :D

the problem is that at settings where you need more than 2GB you will also need more than 2 cards to get sustained high frame rates
(unless you play Skyrim with lots of downloaded mods)

+1. Summed up very nicely.

OP: 2*4GB will be nice but you'll be unlikely to use the extra VRAM not that it's a bad thing having it or anything.

Andy - We're having a VRAM barny in the nVidia deal thread of you want to come and join in :D
 
I read that somewhere that even if I have 2x4gb of vram it does not double up in sli so all you will using is 4gb

I tried but he's completely ignoring anything other than preconceived ideas backed up with "well even if I'm not right right now, I will be in the future"
clearly something that applied 6 months ago when cards were becoming EOL must apply equally now to cards that have only just been released :rolleyes:

clearly his crystal ball is better than mine to be able to know exactly how much VRAM games in 12 months time will be using... and even that is all pretty much of a muchness as I for one plan on upgrading to GK110 by then
