I'm looking at getting a pair of surround sound headphones.

Anyone have any experience with them and can reccommend a make/model?

The room with the PC is next to the neighbours babys room, I'm not sure they want FEAR being played in loud sourround sound at 1 in the morning :p

Yes, those statements do somewhat contradict, you'd give yourself serious hearing damage if you used headphones that loud  ;)

The general opinion is that the surround headsets are a waste of time. They are poorly built, comparatively low sound quality and the surround effect is poor at the best of times (from people on here that have used the most popular sets). The Sennheiser PC150 are supposed to be a nifty all round set. If you don't need the mic though, your open to more options (Sennheiser HD515?) :)

It did kinda contradict....it was headphones I was after. I was a little unsure of the effectiveness of the pseudo surround sound given by headphones.

I ideally need one with a boom mic for BF2 etc.

Maybe I'll go for a decent quality pair of stereo ones than a sub-standard 'surround' set.

Cheers!

I second that....... got a set of HD555's the other week after having 5.1 medusa for 6 months, coupled with me XFi Xtreme these cans are wicked...

Can tell the slightest sounds direction ingame and music is a joy now :D
