surround sound heaphones for both the new consoles!

So I am looking for a decent pair of surround sound headphones with a mic if possible, that are comparable with both the Xbox 1 and ps4. I consider myself very lucky to have been able to pick up both consoles at launch but its left me proper broke :)

I hope such a thing exists and I may of read that there was a pair but they were £250 and £150 is the highest I can go as they going to be for christmas
 
2 pieces of advice:

1 - Don't get a 5.1/7.1 headset with more than 1 driver per ear.

2 - Avoid the Astro headsets.

I would get a Mixamp/Turtle Beach DSS and a far superior pair of headphones and a separate mic for less than the bundle cost.
 
I use Astro A50's - they are amazing!!! at the moment they work fully with the PS4 but only audio with the Xbone (no chat).. There will be an adaptor available in the new year for the Xbone, MS haven't done the best job of supporting audio on the console on launch.

The A50's are a bit over budget but the A40's are really good at £199 - I have a set of them to. The A30's are around £150, it has the same mixamp but the headset it smaller, I haven't tried them.

After the whole ps3 to ps4 fiasco where my £100+ headset is now no longer compatible. The best option imo is to buy a cheap mic that allows you to use a normal pair of headphones along with it.

Going to be using sennheiser hd25-1 ii now with ps4 with belkin iPhone mic wire thing for £7 from Amazon.

This way I get more use out of my cans plus if you don't already have a set of cans this setup means that you now do.

Otherwise spending £200 on a headset which you can never use for music is a waste.

It does all the processing, giving you 7.1 surround in the headset etc. It also lets you control the Voice and Audio, allowing you to increase the chat volume while decreasing game audio or the other way around.

I tried a few different options before I bought my first Astro's and I found them Astro's/Mixamp to be the best. I had the A40's but then decided to go Wireless so I got the A50's.

I found the HD25-1's to be too small when gaming when I had them (till my young daughter at the time picked apart the cables which drove me nuts).

small as in too tight?

or as in they didn't fit your head and didn't line up with your ears correctly??

because the sides move up and down to accomodate larger heads and after some time the plastic isn't as tight fit as it originally was, i think it gets broken in after a while.
 
Just ordered the A50's ....only £187 at the moment on their site.

Anyone know if they are shipped from the UK or EU/USA? Just trying to work out the delivery times :)

Bit of an impulse purchase but was a great discount.

they fit okay, I just thought the cups were too small for gaming use really. Sound was fantastic on them though.
 
Im debating getting either the

Astro A40 2013s or
Tritton Pro+

To use with ps4, the a40s are more but i need to decide which to go for

Or the A50's as above they are on offer 25% off hmmm

So I plugged my corsair 1500's in my PS4 and they work spot on. Really impressed with them in killzone and they just plug and play. As usual though MS have everything l;ocked right down and theres nothing from them on the XBOne.
