Last thing I have left to do is my surround sound for my living room.

What do you guys reckon for the logitech Z-5500 or shall I just go for a seperate amp and speakers?

Also how long are the cables for the rear speakers?

Depends whether you want surround sound for the sake of surround sound, or whether you actually want a decent sound setup.

A set of bookshelf speakers and a stereo amp will be better than a PC-based 5.1 system for a similar budget.

Obviously, a proper AV receiver and set of speakers will be much better overall, but you'll need a higher budget.

Get a proper amp and speakers, something like the tannoy efx/sfx 5.1 package (£80 second hand) with an onkyo receiver. If you have £200 go second hand or £3-400 go new.

What about these speakers?

Samsung HT-TZ325R

Personally I would stay away from these all in 1 packages, spend a bit more and get a much more sonically appealing setup.

Can some one spec me a system for between £300 - £400 please.

AMP, Sub, 4 speakers and one center speaker.

I have absolutely no idea about home cinema so i am going to need some serios help and things explained.

I have a PS3, Sky HD box and Media Center.

For me it's upgradability or general use. You buy an all-in-one, the amp goes. It usually means you have to replace the whole unit. If you'd bought separates, even slimline ones, you'd just be replacing the amp.

Too true plus they lack flexibility, and overall sound quality compared to a separates system.

Separate Multichannel Amp and Speakers every time. Depending on your budget. I'm running an Onkyo 606 with Kef 3005SE 7.1, and a pair of Gale Gold Monitors for Stereo on the second zone. Amp is around £300, Kefs £1000, Gales £100.

Cheaper options are the Tannoy speakers at around £200, or the QAcoustics 1010s a £300, Amps are Onkyo 308 At around £220 or the Yamaha RXV395 at £180. the Sony STRHD800 is an excellent amp at around £240.

Spend on the speakers rather than the Amp as they will survive through several amp upgrades. You can get some excellent secondhand stuff on ebay and checkout places like Richer Sounds for bargains.
