Used to play H1Z1 and WarZ a hell of a lot, to the point of teaming up with all 4 of us till the early hours. But we are getting really bored of playing Battlefield and Warzone and looking for something fresh. DayZ isn't bad, but not all of us enjoy trying to find a map and constantly having to eat or drink every 30mins so we need something good! Has anyone played Tarkov or Hunt Showdown? Are these games limited to 2 or can we play 4 player? Any other recommendations?

The genre is beyond diluted now, what you're looking for is a survival shooter, the majority of the genre is now survival base building which is so over done now. I think Tarkov is a good shout if you're looking for something similar to DayZ

Tarkov was my logical progression from Dayz survival - smaller scale and less players per raid/map but the gunplay is unmatched in anything else i've ever played in 30 years of PC gaming.

Have you had a look at Valheim at all? Not a survival shooter but still in the survival Genre, and can be great fun to play as a group. Theres loads of build and exploration in the game.

Hunt Showdown is really good, a brilliant game which has gone under the radar of many gamers (plus its title music is SUPERB), its something a little different from the norm, dont think its got a 4 player mode though

Cheers guys, so basically Tarkov or Hunt Showdown then hmmmm

As for Valheim I don't think my mates would go for that one :D even if it looks fun

Hunt Showdown is certianly more accessible and easy to pick up/put down with little commitment. It also looks fantastic, has great sound and a lovely atmosphere. I actually play EFT as my daily and Hunt Showdown as my run'n'gun/casual game, even though it's fairly slow paced.

fair point, but tarkov takes grindy and try hard to a whole new level!
Glances at 3k+ hour playtime :D

You're right though, tarkov is a grind and takes commitment if you are going for missions/kappa - it can be played just for PVP if that's what you're after.

Just a personal opinion but I don't think it's any more grindy than leveling up on the likes of PUBG/COD/BF for imaginary numbers on a skill ranking.

Scum?
Get on a server and start looting and shooting.
Not only are there likely to be other teams, you've also got the zombie threat, mechs in high value areas and most of the core survival aspects.
It is still in EA and every new major update adds something new. It's not that far from a full release.

i miss warz....i really liked that game (before the devs started selling hax!)

I miss H1Z1/Warz as well, used to love rocking up to Boulder City looking for Santa Sacks and Fireman helmets

Thanks all for the suggestions, might look into Scum again!

7 days to die isn't my cuppa, but I did check it out :D

Shame they never did a decent standalone version of the survival mode in The Division. It needed a bit of reworking due to various spurious approaches to mechanics as stuff was adapted/abandoned through development and patches and the options to play it in a more or less hardcore fashion - sometimes I just wanted to soak up the atmosphere and not play to the time limits, etc.
