Suspect my active pair has been disconnected

The last few visits (had 3 for my recent fault) an engineer would do some pre-visit checks around 7am before arriving.

Perhaps someone fixed your line then another chap arrived to fix another fault on the cable and undid the good work on your line to resolve another.
 
Seen this happen a number of times... engineer nabs an active pair to complete a job... is rather silly.

From the times I've seen it happen... often takes 1-4 weeks to resolve.
