SV650 - Under Seat Storage

Tried to Google this but with no real luck.

What is the under seat storage like on an SV650 (SK8 2008)?

Is it easy and quick enough to get to? So that accessing it to retrieve a disc lock/chain when parking up is not a total pain?

What size is it, would storing an Almax III 0.7m chain and lock be possible?
 
I never tried getting my Almax in there. I'd guess it'd be difficult, but I had the immob/alarm malarkey in there too.

To open is a case of using ignition key in side of rear pod. I never really used it but instead strapped the carry-case Almax gave me with the chain to the rear seat. Disc lock would easily fit... unless you have a freaky one.
 
Cheers, I contacted my insurance company and they've said so long as I have some form of Thatcham/Sold Secure security I'm ok. So if I can't fit a series III in I'll get a disc lock.

Any recommendations?
 
i know this is a valid question given your reason but I have hand on heart never thought about 'storage' on a bike... the day I do is the day I'm a old man and am buying the latest tourer :)

you'd never get a chain under a SV seat btw..

my trunk is totally full of kit I really need like power commander, speedohealer and air horn compressor :)
 
Just get an approved disc lock for under the seat, Have had oxford Boss and Kryponite ones in past and theyve all been good :)
 
Can't say I put much thought into storage either :)

Oxford Boss looks good, I'll go to my local store and see what fits the bike, some locks don't seem to fit as well as others
 
Worst bike I have seen so far for underseat storage is the ZX6R 07/08 model, can barely fit a fart in there!

Been pretty happy with mine can fit quite a bit under there, and was also happy with my SV 99 Curvey model storage! best has to be the SRAD :D lookes like you could fit a lid under there :p
 
I locked myself out of my Z750 once. I managed to put the ignition key under the seat when I put my chain under there, then shut it.

Locked myself out of a motorbike...

Idiot :/

Hahah good work!

Also, I always stored all my security stuff outside of the pillion storage - other than a cloth - as I always worried big stuff would hit the electronics and break everything in the world ever.

I want another bike.
 
SV isn't too bad, can fit a small to medium chain and lock in there but I just put in a disk lock, just an Oxford one as it was cheap and approved. Other things under the seat where some thin waterproof trousers and a scottoiler system.
 
Cheers, I picked the bike up today - you lot weren't kidding about the space!

I'll post up some pics in the morning.

Going to buy a disc lock tomorrow.
