I was just using task manager to close a file and happened to look in the processes tab, the top two memory using processes are both svcost.exe as are the fourth, twelfth, sixteenth, and seventeenth with more further down the list, is it supposed to appear more than 5 times in the top 20? also considering only kaspersky, msn and internet explorer are running, (and I’m not doing anything on msn and kaspersky is not updating or running a scan) should the pc really be using 1499 mb of ram? I’ve got 4 Gb and 64-bit so I’ve got plenty spare but it seems a little wierd.

any advise would be greatly appreciated!! thanks guys!

Google it. It is the main process for Windows Vista. I doubt there is anything wrong happening there mate.

hang on, there was a malware file that looked like this. I think it was scvhost.exe and svchost.exe. Something along those lines anyway. One was genuine, one was malware.

^ Just to confuse things for everybody. ;)

If you're worried, download Malwarebytes'. Probably the best and smallest antimalware app.

Don't set MWB to background scanning, or whatever its guardian mode is, simply use it as a run on demand. Same with superantispyware, Kaspersky can be picky about other things running in the background, but for ondemand scanning, they are quite fine.
