So, I've recently downgraded from Win7 to Vista while I wait to get mself a proper copy of it. The computer seems very slow and sluggish, something that I dont remember noticing before on Vista at all.. Despite what other people might rant about.

Ive noticed Svchost is running a total of 17 times, and using a huge amount of memory up. Is this normal? What might be causing it? I've looked about online, and it seems my figures are far in excess of what most people are reporting..

It's normal for it to run lots of times. It's the host process for most of your services.

As to the memory.. that depends on what services you are running.

You can use this:

to identify the memory hogging service.

But 17? Most I saw reported when I did a quick google was 7 or so.. But cheers, I will have a look.

I am getting similar to you MMI, svchost using up about 2gb of ram on Vista x64
